Obituary for Josefa B. Ritacco (Gencarelli)
Josefa Bomina Ritacco (Gencarelli) passed peacefully surrounded by her family on April 20, 2021 at the age of 73.
Josefa is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, three grandchildren, their spouses, and three great-grandchildren: Rose and Dominic J Capizzano III; Kayla, Ray, and Callie Cross; Kristie, Michael, James and Gio Kalinowshki; Dominic J Capizzano IV and dog Archie. Josefa is also survived by her sister Rosa Gencarelli residing in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Ritacco and granddaughter Arielle Capizzano.
Josefa was born in Acri Cosenza, Italy to Anna and Natale Gencarelli.
Josefa, known to most as Nonni, was an incredible cook, seamstress and caregiver. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and friend.
Family and friends can pay their respects on Thursday, April 22, from 4pm – 7pm at Gaffney Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Attendees will be expected to follow guidelines for wearing masks, social distancing and capacity limitations of the funeral home, imposed by the Dept. of Health.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1pm on Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High St., Westerly. There is no procession from the funeral home to church. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
