Obituary for Wayne Irving Schonrog

Wayne Irving Schonrog, 63, passed away on March 1st, 2021, at Kindred Hospital in Los Angeles, California.

Born in Westerly, Rhode Island on May 21st, 1957, he was the son of Phillip Robert (Bud) Schonrog and Marion Esther Beaudreau (née Taylor). He was predeceased by his father, and his brother, Phillip Robert (Bobby) Schonrog. He is survived by his mother, Marion, a brother, Kevin David Schonrog Sr, and a sister, Gayle Jean Summerlin (née Schonrog).

Wayne graduated from Chariho High School in 1975. He continued his academic career at DeVry University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology in 1978. Wayne went on to get his master’s degree in Quantitative Analysis and Systems, as well as his master’s in Business Administration, from Long Island University in 1987.

In his youth, Wayne was a member of the Boy Scouts. He also enjoyed scuba diving and sky diving and was an avid chess player, as well as a longtime bowler. He was also a member of the Wyoming / Hope Valley Fire Department at the Alton Fire Station. He worked as an electronics engineer for many years at Sperry Corporation in Long Island, New York. Upon leaving Sperry Corporation, he became self-employed for several years, before making the decision to move to Long Beach, California, where he became a member of the Pacific Baptist Church. He was very passionate about his work with the church and the friends he made there.
