Obituary for John G. Marshall Jr.
John G. Marshall, Jr., 93, of Elm Street, Westerly, formerly of Hope Valley and Gales Ferry, CT, passed away at Rhode Island Hospital of natural causes on Sunday, February 21, 2021. He was the beloved father of Stephanie L. Marshall of Groton, Conn.
He was born in Norwood, Mass., the only son of the late John G., Sr. and Helen Marshall; brother of the late Jeanne Cochrane, Claire Gibson and Helen Hafenrichter. He is survived by his daughter, former wife Carol Marshall, and several nieces and nephews.
John served honorably in the US Navy. He worked for many years as an electrical engineer for Electric Boat in Groton until his retirement and was a member of the E.B. Management Assoc.
John was devoted in his faith and was a regular communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Hope Valley. He also formerly attended Our Lady of Lourdes in Gales Ferry and had served on the Ledyard Town Council. John enjoyed golfing at many area courses and performing and singing with regional theatre groups in Southeastern Conn. He loved to attend plays at The Granite Theatre, where he was an avid supporter. John very much enjoyed dining out and having breakfast with “the guys” on Fridays.
