Obituary for William R. "Bill" Woodall
William R. Woodall, of Strawberry Street, Lisbon, Conn., passed away at Rhode Island Hospital on Friday, June 5, 2020 at the age of 56.
Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late William H. and Celestine Woodall.
William worked in sales at Numaco Packaging and was a member of the Maria Assunta Society.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved children, Logan J. Woodall and Lia J. Woodall, both of Johnston, RI; his sister Cara Parkinson (Kyle) of Lisbon, CT; brother Anthony Woodall of Florida; his uncle Bob Blough of Pawcatuck; his children’s mother Shannon Woodall; and several nieces and nephews, including Kyle Parkinson. William was predeceased by two siblings, Tina Campbell and Joseph Woodall.
Bill grew up in a very fun filled Italian family in Pawcatuck, Connecticut. He attended Saint Michael's School and went on to graduate from Saint Bernard’s. He attended Central Connecticut State University.
He treasured his relatives and simple times growing up and talked about those special memories all of his life.
He enjoyed fishing with his dad Woody and his brother Joe. He was very close to his maternal grandparents who lived two houses down and enjoyed endless hours helping his grandfather in a very large garden.
Family history meant so much to Bill. Through the years, he collected all kinds of treasured family photographs and documents and memorabilia.
Bill was a born salesman and he could literally sell ice to an Eskimo! He was gifted with a warm, infectious, genuine personality and always made everyone around him laugh and have a great time being in his presence. He was very unique in that way. He was so kindhearted, generous, and just about the most lovable person on the planet.
Bill loved all kinds of sports; especially baseball, football, golf and boxing. He even met the great Muhamed Ali in New Jersey! He was an avid Red Sox fan and always remembered the fun times there with his dad and friends growing up.
Bill also had a real talent for art! He created many special spin paintings with his brother Joe, nephew Jeff Giarrusso, and his own kids. He had a massive collection of them!
He loved and adored his sister Cara and brother-in-law Kyle, spending countless weekends at the pool with his children enjoying every minute. He loved his nephews Kyle and Connor and was so proud of Kyle and all of his accomplishments! Connor was his sidekick, two peas in a pod, enjoying their antics and especially golfing. He forever remains in our hearts!
His greatest and proudest achievements in life were his children! Nothing meant more to him than providing a wonderful childhood for his son Logan and daughter Leah. He tried very hard to pass down the things he treasured in his childhood to his kids! He would make them traditional Italian foods: specialties like his pea soup, clams casino, steak on the grill for Logan and lobster for Lia. He enjoyed playing tennis and bike riding and spending time at Misquamicut Beach with his children. His greatest wish in life was to try and replicate the childhood he grew up in for his precious children and to provide them with an education and see them graduate from college.
They certainly broke the mold when Bill arrived on this earth. No one could possibly fill his shoes! He was just so extraordinary in so many ways. Although this leaves all of his loved ones with an enormous void, we are thankful that he is reunited in heaven with his family whom he loves so very much.
Rest in heavenly peace Billy; until we meet again.
In lieu of flowers, we will create a GO FUNDME page in the near future, which will be set up for his children, Lia and Logan. The monies donated will be put toward an educational scholarship fund for them.
