Obituary for Maria Giorno
Maria (Luzzi) Giorno, 93, beloved wife for 74 years of Natale Giorno, of Oak Street, Westerly, passed away at the Westerly Health Center on Friday, May 8, 2020.
Born in Corigliano Calabro, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Assunta Luzzi.
Maria was a devout communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. She liked to knit for her family, loved to garden and can, and she especially enjoyed cooking and celebrating traditional holidays with the family.
She leaves behind her four children, Giorgio Giorno and his wife Carmela (Fusaro) and Antonio Giorno and his wife Karen (Pucci) and Rose Pastore and her husband Antonio, all of Westerly and Cosmo Giorno and his wife Merri (Batchelder) of Pawcatuck; ten grandchildren, Natale Giorno (Kelli), Frank Giorno, Salvatore Giorno (Amanda), Antonio Giorno, Jr. (Suzanne), Tina Giorno, Mark Giorno (Regina), Peter Pastore and Andrew Pastore, all of Westerly, Nicole Nahas (John Heagney) of Greenwich, CT and Dennis Nahas of Boston, Mass.; and her three siblings, Natale Luzzi, Giuseppe Luzzi and Linda Luzzi all of Italy. Maria is also survived by her 10 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Daniel, Mia, Santino, Alessia, Antonio III, Mariana, Marco, Rainah and Thomas; as well as scores of nieces and nephews in Italy and Argentina. Mrs. Giorno was predeceased by her siblings, Angelo Luzzi and Vincenzina Donadio, both formerly of Argentina and Elena Occhiuzzo formerly of Italy.
Funeral service and burial are respectfully private due to gathering restrictions.
